- We are pleased to announce the launch of Elmhurst College Scholarship Competition for students in “IGCSE A” Level and GAC of Singapore International School, for enrolment in the undergraduate programme Fall Intake 2019 of Elmhurst College (USA).
- Founded in 1871, Elmhurst College (www.elmhurst.edu ) situated in a beautiful campus, is a 30-minute train ride from downtown Chicago. It currently has more than 3,300 students with 60 undergraduate majors, 17 graduate programmes and 15 pre-professional programmes. Elmhurst College has been well documented by US News & World Report for being in the Top 10 Regional Mid-West Universities. Elmhurst is also well-known for student centered education with small class size and faculty members who are accomplished scholars and professionals.
- In 2017 and 2018, Singapore International School had successfully organized two Summer Immersion Programmes at Elmhurst College, where SIS students earned 4 University Credits exemption for their enrolment in the Undergraduate programme in Elmhurst and other universities in the USA.
- Merit – based Scholarship:
Undergraduate Scholarship of up to US$80,000 will be awarded to students with outstanding academic performance based on GPA of the last 3 years, as per the following scheme:

5. Scholarship Competition
a. The Scholarship Competition is exclusively for IGCSE “A” Level / GAC / Year 12 students in Vietnam
b. Guidelines are as follows:
- Step 1: Upload a 3 to 5 page double-spaced typed essay on the topic question: “What is the power of story?”
- Step 2: Upload an “unlisted” video of no more than 10 minutes in length to http://www.youtube.com, presenting on the topic “What motivates your intellectual curiosity?” and include the link in your application.
- Complete the Online Application via link https://connect.elmhurst.edu/apply/ with the two required files by Friday 1 March 2019.
c. Scholarship Prize
- International World Scholar Scholarship (Full Tuition): ONEThis scholarship is awarded to one student who plans to live on campus and covers the full cost of tuition fee and technology fees. Residential costs for housing, board and residential network fees are NOT covered. This scholarship supersedes and replaces any merit-based scholarship or international grant from Elmhurst, from which student has been previously awarded.
- International Residential Scholarship: THREEThis scholarship is awarded to a maximum of one student in each region (Hanoi, Danang, Hochiminh City) and covers the full cost of room, board and Residential network fees. This scholarship is stackable with the merit-based scholarship that a student previously had been awarded.
- International Discovery Award: NO LIMITThis US$5,000 grant is stackable with any merit-based scholarship a student had been previously awarded.
6. For admission, Elmhurst College’s requirements are as following:
- Online Application Form (free)
- High school transcript and test scores of 3 most recent years
- English proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 79
- Optional: Personal essay (300-500 words), letter of recommendation and any related documents.
